¿De dónde viene tu apodo?
Where does your pseudonym come from?
Al principio tenía varios nombres en el mundo de los graffitis. A principios de los años 2000 quería un cambio. Estaba aburrido de muchas cosas en el graffiti y el Hip Hop en ese momento, mucha gente se lo tomaba demasiado en serio y a ellos mismos, esta cosa territorial-/ghetto-/gangster-/chulo… No quería ese «nombre de graffiti típico-grande-malo»-«uno ( ,dos, cuatro, …)». Así que con un guiño elegí «Agnes 1½»
In the beginning I got several graffiti names. In the early 2000´s I wanted a change. I was bored about many things in graffiti and Hip Hop at that time, many people taking it and themselves too serious, this territorial-/ghetto-/gangster-/pimp-stuff… I didn´t want that “add-in-typical-big-bad-graff-name”-“one ( ,two, four, …)”. So with an eye-twinkle I chose “Agnes 1½”
¿Qué te motivó para empezar a pintar?
What motivated you to get started painting?
Me encanta dibujar desde que era un niño. A los cuatro años empecé a dibujar figuras de cómic, coches y todas las impresiones del día a día, más tarde también medieval, fantasía, ciencia ficción, militar y cosas técnicas. A los doce años un amigo del colegio me enseñó el libro «subway art»…
Pero eso no fue la iniciación. Vivía en una pequeña ciudad con una pequeña estación de tren y casi todos los trenes que pasaban estaban llenos de graffitis. Piezas de «Razor», «Kande», «BLOW», y muchos más. Con trece, catorce años, cuando todo era nuevo, hormigueante, excitante y una emocionante aventura, el graffiti como una gran y aplastante explosión de energía y color me atrapó. Me volvía loco la estética de las letras, las formas, los colores y los afectos (sobre diferentes superficies, especialmente el acero, los destellos, los goteos) y ese olor… Primero algunos amigos, que también estaban fascinados, y yo me inicié autodidácticamente a principios y mediados de los 90. Más tarde, cuando fui a menudo en las siguientes ciudades más grandes, me encontré con la gente, que han estado haciendo esto durante más tiempo. Aprendí, me formé, formé parte de ello y también conocí a una persona con la que pinté mucho en aquella época y que todavía hoy es una importante y buen amigo.
A principios-mediados de los 2000 me mudé para estudiar y trabajar. Pinté menos y al final sólo conseguí hacer bocetos y pegatinas. Finalmente volví a mudarme, me reencontré con mi viejo amigo y después de una pausa de unos ocho años seguí pintando.
I love drawing since I was a child. With four years I started drawing comic-figures, cars and every day impressions later also medieval, fantasy, sci-fy, military and technical stuff. In the age of twelve a friend from school showed me the book “subway art”…
But that wasn´t the initiation. I lived in a small town with a little railway station and nearly all the trains passing by were full of graffiti. Pieces from “Razor”, “Kande”, “BLOW”, and many more. With thirteen, fourteen, when everything was new, tingling, exciting and a thrilling adventure, graffiti as a big, smashing explosion of energy and color got me. I was crazy about the aesthetic of the letters, the forms, colors and affects (lacquer on different surfaces, especially steel, sparkles, drips) and that smell… First some friends, who were fascinated, too, and I autodidactically started in the early and mid 90ies. Later on when I often went in the next bigger cities, I met people, who have been doing this for longer. I learned, trained, became part of it and I also met a person I painted a lot with that time and who still today is an important and good friend.
In the early-mid 2000´s I moved and studying and working took time. I painted less and at last I only managed sketching and doing stickers. Finally I moved back, met my old friend again and after a break of about eight years I went on painting.

What is your style?
Hard to say… Mainly I try to get forms, swings and proportions that are aesthetic to me. And being always a little bit different (in German: “anders”), trying something more or less new or experimental (often exaggregated, with or without blocks, 3d, simple, semiwild, organic, straight, etc.; my characters: realistic, portrait, caricature, comic, different techniques, like drawing, like painting; hard or soft, direct or indirect lights; color schemes, background abstract, atmospheric or specific themes) all more or less adapted to graffiti and with my specific swing, turn, my own style…

Me alegro de que preguntes y compartas mi trabajo. Lo hago intencionadamente por mí y por mi afición a la estética. Pero me gusta cuando la gente se alegra (o se irrita o se disgusta…), recibe impulsos y cuando otros escritores respetan y aprecian mi trabajo.
I´m glad about you asking and sharing my work. I intentionally do it for myself and my nerdy love in aesthetics. But I like it when people are pleased (or irritated or disgusted…), get impulses and when other writers respect and appreciate my work.
¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?
Do you remember the first piece?
Mi primera pieza real la pinté a mediados de los 90 con un personaje a la derecha en una pared de ladrillos en el muelle de carga de un supermercado frente a la línea del tren en una pequeña ciudad (con toda mi cantidad de latas en ese momento, Sparvar, Dupli Color, Multona y Hit Color Deco-spray). Estaba sucio, pero estaba bastante contento y muy orgulloso.
My fist real piece I painted in the mid-90ies with a character to the right at a brick wall on the loading bay of a supermarket faced to the trainline in a small town (with my whole amount of cans at that time, Sparvar, Dupli Color, Multona and Hit Color Deco-spray). It was dirty but I was quite happy about it and very proud.

And finally, anything you want to say?
Por fin, estoy contento con mi libertad a la hora de hacer graffitis y no depender de ganar dinero con ellos. No pinto todos los días pero puedo probar y hacer lo que quiero. Y un gran mural colorido o un bonito personaje me alegran más que «hacer diez veces lo mismo pero un poco diferente»…

At last, I´m happy about my freedom in doing graffiti and not depending on earning money with it. I´m not painting every day but I can try and do what I want. And a big colorful mural or a nice character is sparking more joy to me than “doing-ten-times-the-same-but-a-little-bit-different”…
