¿De dónde viene tu apodo?
Where does your pseudonym come from?
Cuando iba al instituto, un día por casualidad, escribí unas letras por chat de whatsapp de forma aleatoria “ALKM”. Empece a firmar con ellas, hasta que la gente las asociaba con el pseudónimo de Alquimista o Alquimist ¡De allí saque el nombre!
When I was in high school, one day by chance, I randomly wrote some letters in whatsapp chat ‘ALKM’. I started signing with them, until people associated them with the pseudonym Alquimista or Alquimist, from there I got the name!
¿Qué te motivó para empezar a pintar?
What motivated you to get started painting?
Desde siempre he tenido interés por el mundo del dibujo, pero fue a los siete años que en una exposición de Sorolla me quede fascinado de como alguien podía pintar lienzos tan grandes.
A los 19 mientras estudiaba y trabajaba, esa fascinación que tuve de pequeño volvió a mi vida, y decidí coger algunos potes y empezar a probar de hacer “dibujos inexplicables”( como le decía yo cuando era pequeño).
Es cierto que ya había pintado alguna vez antes, al ser un chico solitario con mucho tiempo libre, para matar el aburrimiento y tener un poco de adrenalina ya hice algunas pintadas con 15 y 16, pero eran días muy puntuales.
I have always had an interest in the world of drawing, but it was at the age of seven when I saw a Sorolla exhibition that I was fascinated by how someone could paint such large canvases.
At 19, while I was studying and working, the fascination I had as a child came back into my life, and I decided to pick up some pots and start trying to make ‘inexplicable drawings’ (as I used to call them when I was a child).
It is true that I had already painted some times before, being a lonely boy with a lot of free time, to kill boredom and to have a bit of adrenaline I did some paintings when I was 15 and 16, but they were very punctual days.
¿Cuál es tu estilo?
What is your style?
Yo no considero que tenga ningún estilo, soy una persona muy inquieta y curiosa con muchas ganas de aprender. De hecho, nunca he ido a escuelas de dibujo o pintura, solo hice una extraescolar en la primaria. Ya después en el instituto me interese más por las ciencias y las matemáticas. Una vez finalizados mis estudios obligatorios decidí decantarme por el mundo de la Estadística, la Física y las Mates. Graduándome en Estadística Aplicada en la UAB “Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona”. Mientras tanto, estuve trabajando en la construcción durante varios años (entre otros muchos trabajos), y allí aprendí a trabajar.
Por lo tanto, más que decir que tengo un estilo, yo diría que mis pinturas son consecuencia de toda mi experiencia anterior. Y en ello intento meter un poco de todos los conocimientos que he ido adquiriendo durante estos años.
I don’t consider myself to have any style, I’m a very restless and curious person with a great desire to learn. In fact, I have never been to drawing or painting schools, I only did an extracurricular in primary school. Later, in high school I became more interested in science and mathematics. Once I finished my compulsory studies I decided to go into the world of Statistics, Physics and Mathematics. I graduated in Applied Statistics at the UAB ‘University Autónoma of Barcelona’. In the meantime, I was working in construction for several years (among many other jobs), and there I learned to work.
So, rather than saying that I have a style, I would say that my paintings are a consequence of all my previous experience. And in it I try to put a bit of all the knowledge I have been acquiring during these years.

¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?

Sí, la primera realmente fue con 15, una pintada de cuatro rayas simulando una silueta rollo bansky detrás de un polideportivo (de noche evidentemente). Mi firma desde el inicio tenía claro que sería un dibujo más bien, aun así soy muy fan del lettering.
Pero como he comentado la primera pieza oficial fue con 19 tirando a 20, el rostro de un lobo en unas casas abandonadas del pueblo donde vivo.
Yes, the first one was really with 15, a painting of four stripes simulating a bansky silhouette behind a sports centre (at night of course). My tag from the beginning I had clear that it would be a drawing rather, even so I’m a big fan of lettering.
But as I’ve said the first official piece was with 19 or 20, the face of a wolf in some abandoned houses in the village where I live.

Nada, pues muchas gracias por dejarme comentar un poco quién soy y de donde vengo. ¡Honestamente, soy una persona trabajadora de padres humildes y trabajadores, ojalá algún día llegue alguna parte y pueda devolverle todo lo que me ha dado mi familia!.
