¿De dónde viene tu apodo?
Where does your pseudonym come from?
Empecé a escribir con mi verdadero nombre John, eso fue en 1988. En 1992 cambié a Dejoe, el nombre es una combinación de Deen y John. Yo quería hacer una pieza junto con Deen en mi escuela, pero no teníamos suficientes botes para hacer todas las letras, así que dije vamos a hacer D-E de Deen y J-O de John. La pieza nunca se hizo porque los profesores estaban allí, así que tuvimos que huir. Mas tarde mi amigo Juel, a quien estaba enseñando un poco, me pidió que escribiera el nombre de Dejoe y le dije que nunca escribiera Dejoe ahora.
I started writing with my real John , that was in 1988. In 1992 changed it to Dejoe , the name is combined from Deen and John. I wanted to do piece together with Deen at my school , but we didn’t had enuff cans to do the whole letters, so i said lets do D-E from Deen and J-O from John. The piece never happened because teachers was there so we had to run away . Later on my friend juel who i was teaching a little bit, ask to write the name dejoe and i said never i write dejoe now.

What motivated you to get started painting?
Me fascinó ver a mis amigos del colegio haciendo graffiti y ver el documental Stylewarz. También vi los libros de arte en aerosol y arte en el metro. Me encantaba todo lo relacionado con el graffiti. Lo mejor son los botes.
I was fascinated after seeing my school friends doing graffiti and showing me the docu film Stylewarz . Also seeing the books spraycan art and subway art. I loved everything about graffiti . Best thing are the spraycans.
¿Cuál es tu estilo?
What is your style?
Estilo salvaje y único con letras estiradas . Me encanta jugar y experimentar en el momento. Me encanta el estilo libre, hacer líneas y ver hasta dónde me lleva. Es como un viaje.
Stylish wild and unique with stretched letters . I love playing around and experiment in the moment . I love freestyling , just doing lines seeing where it keeps me. It is like a journey.

Es bueno, porque la gente puede ver mis estilos y también puedo ver a otros colegas grafiteros y su historia. Es una plataforma muy buena para conectar con todo el mundo. Gracias por hacerlo.

¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?
Do you remember the first piece?
Sí, recuerdo mi primera pieza. Fue con dos amigos en el invierno 88/89. Fuimos a rag cans en un taller de pintura. Tuvimos que correr por los pitidos de la entrada. Perdimos algunas latas mientras corríamos. Solo nos quedaba un pack de seis negro de latas sparvar . Por la noche fuimos a la cochera y estaba muy oscuro. Alguien nos dijo que siempre habia un tren. Yo hice las primeras lineas, luego llenamos todo de negro. Hicimos el buff end 2 end solo con negro . Inspirado en el arte del spray. Era horrible y frío, con muchos chorreones. Eran simples letras. Fue la mejor sensación, incluso si nuestra pieza era de toy. Nos sentimos como reyes.
Yes, i remember my first piece . Its was with two friends in winter 88/89 . We went to rag cans in a paint shop. We had to run because of beeping by the entry . We lost some cans while we were running . We only had a six pack black from sparvar cans left. At night we went to the yard it was really dark . Somebody told us there is always a train . I did the first lines, than we filled everything black . We did fuck the buff end 2 end only with black . Inspired from spraycan art stop the buff. Its was horrible and cold a lotta drips. It was just simple block letters . Its was best feeling even if our piece was toy . We felt like kings.

Para mí, a lo largo de los años, siempre hay que divertirse, amar lo que se hace, nada es perfecto, confiar en uno mismo y nunca dejar de crear. Conecta siempre con la gente. No pelees y no juzgues a la gente… gracias de nuevo por recibirme, paz.
For me over the years, have always fun , love what you do , nothing is perfect and trust /be yourself and never stop creating. Always connect with people . Don’t fight and don’t judge peoples … thanks again for having me, peace.
