Es la mezcla de mis dos nombres, Eddaviel = Edison + Javiel.
It is the mix of my two names, Eddaviel = Edison + Javiel.
¿Qué te motivó para empezar a ser un escritor de graffiti?
What motivated you to get started being a graffiti writer?
No me considero escritor de Graffiti, soy un artista visual que le encanta pintar en las calles para compartir mis visiones con el público, ya que en mi país no todos van a las galerías, decidí llevarles parte de ellas a las calles.
I don’t consider myself a graffiti writer, I’m a visual artist that loves to paint on the street in order to share my visions with the people, because in my country not everybody goes to art galleries I decided to bring part of them to the streets.

What do you try to say with your graffiti?
Busco crear una fantasía Afrocaribeña a través de la expresión de los rasgos africanos, mezclados a la cultura taína y elementos europeos que se fusionan para crear lo que hoy es el Caribe, tres continentes que forman la diversidad cultural de nuestra tierra “Quisqueya».
I aim to create an afro-caribbean fantasy through the expression of African treats mixed with Taino culture and European elements that merge into what the Caribbean is today: three continents which constitute the cultural diversity of our land “Quisqueya”.
¿Cuál es tu estilo?
What is your style?
Mi estilo está influenciado por la cultura pop, el grabado y el surrealismo, muchas personas lo han señalado como Surrealismo-pop. Yo, sólo sigo expresándome y dejando fluir cada línea.
My style is influenced by pop culture, engraving and surrealism, many people have identified it as pop surrealism. I just keep expressing myself and letting every line to flow freely.
¿Te importaria contarnos como es un día normal en tu semana?
Would you mind telling us how is your normal day during the week?
Transcurre entre el dibujo, la literatura, cómics, música y cine, es bien variado dentro de las cosas que me gustan, ya que suelo tomar pausas durante mi trabajo para ver una película, leer algo, compartir con personas cercanas o vagar un rato en Internet y cuando salgo a pintar a las calles es bien intenso.
It happens between drawing, literature, comics, music and films, it is very diverse within the things that I like, since I use to take pauses while I work to watch a movie, read something, have some spare time with close people or just spending time surfing on the Internet, and when I go out to paint on the streets is very intense.

Me parece genial poder compartir mi pasión con personas de todos los rincones del mundo a través de espacios como este, que brindan la oportunidad de conocer nuevos artistas.
For me it is great being able to share mi passion with people all around the world through spaces like this that provide the opportunity to know new artists.
¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza? ¿Podrías contarnos la experiencia?
Do you remember the first piece? Could you mind telling us the experience?
No recuerdo la edad, pero fue de pequeño, muchos años antes de empezar mis estudios en la escuela de artes y aún está sin terminar en las paredes del patio trasero en casa de mis padres, pinté al Mago Oscuro de Yu Gi oh, pero en el 2012 fue que empecé a tomarle cariño a pintar en las calles y utilicé las latas por primera vez, fue mágico y al ver esa pieza puedo sentir lo mucho que he crecido desde entonces.
I can’t recall how old I was, but it was when I was little, years before starting my studies in the art school and it is not finished yet, in the walls of my parents’ house backyard. I painted the “Dark Magician” from Yu-Gi-Oh!, but it was on the 2012 when I started to appreciate painting walls on the streets and when I used spray cans for the first time, it was magical and when I see that piece I can realize how much I’ve grown since then.
¿Puedes hablarnos del graffiti en tu ciudad?
Can you talk us about the graffiti in your city?
En mi pueblo natal no es muy valorado pero poco a poco se va tomando en cuenta por el crecimiento que ha ido teniendo en mi país de la mano con diferentes festivales nacionales e internacionales que se han ido desarrollando en los últimos años.
In my hometown it is not highly valued but little by little it has been taken into account because of the growth it has been having by the hand of different national and international art festivals that have been developed in the last few years.
¿Cuál es tu trabajo real?
What is your real job?
Me dedico al arte visual, soy presidente de Moro Studio, una compañía de ilustración y editorial de cómics en la República Dominicana.
I work as a visual artist, and I’m the president of Moro Studio, a comic illustration and editorial company located in the Dominican Republic.
