¿De dónde viene tu apodo?

Where does your pseudonyme come from?

Cuando empecé a pintar tuve problemas para mantener un nombre particular que me gustara.

Me lo cambiaba todo el tiempo. Luego salí con un chico que tenia un apodo que sonaba a griego, al encontrarlo bonito me encontré con esa derivación de «iota» que es algo simple y que representa algo pequeño, discreto, así que me gustó y me lo quedé.

When I started graffiti I had trouble to keep a particular name that I liked.

I was changing all the time. Then later I went out with a boy whose nickname sounded a bit greek, finding it pretty I went to see that side and I came across «iota» which was very simple and which represents something small, discreet, I liked it so I kept that.

¿Qué te motivó para empezar a pintar?

What motivated you to get started painting?

Empecé a pintar en las paredes bastante tarde en comparación con el promedio de la gente. A los 21 años ya vivía sola y trabajaba, pero era una rutina en la que no me sentía bien. Y en esa época conocí a unos chicos que pintaban y me propusieron venir con ellos y me pareció muy divertido. Más allá del aspecto artístico, me dio una sensación de libertad que nunca me permití cuando era adolescente.

I started painting on walls quite late compared to the average. At 21 I was already living alone and working but it was a routine in which I didn’t feel good. And at that time I met some boys who painted and who proposed me to come with them and I found it so funny. Beyond the artistic aspect, it gave me a feeling of freedom that I never allowed myself when I was a teenager.

¿Cuál es tu estilo?

What is your style?

Lo intenté todo para averiguar qué era lo que más me gustaba y a lo que volvía instintivamente.

Hago un estilo figurativo, pinto personajes, mezclando el realismo y la ilustración. La línea es algo que me atrae mucho y que trato de cultivar en mi trabajo. Manteniendo las líneas de construcción, o errores y jugando con ellas en la composición.

Creo que más tarde iría hacia lo abstracto, pero no de inmediato porque estimo que todavía tengo muchas cosas que explorar en lo figurativo para empezar de buena manera.

I tried everything to find out what I liked the most and what I was instinctively returning to.

I am in the figurative, I paint characters, mixing realism and illustration. The line is something that attracts me strongly and that I try to cultivate in my work. Keeping the building lines, or errors and play with them in the composition.

I think that later I would go towards the abstract, but not right away because I estimate that I still have a lot of things to explore in the figurative to get started in a good way.

¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?

Do you remember the first piece?

La primera fue en el año 2013 con un chico que me gustaba y que me llevó a Neerpede (un lugar legal en Bruselas donde se puede pintar en los pilares debajo de la carretera). Para ser honesta, me sentí un poco incómoda porque él ya tenía bastante experiencia. Así que hice una cara con líneas simples y me paré hasta en lo que técnicamente sabía hacer.

The very first was in 2013 with a guy that I liked who took me to Neerpede (a legal place in Brussels where you can paint on pillars below the road). To be honest I was a little uncomfortable because he was already quite experienced. So I made a face with simple lines and I stopped at what I could technically do.
