¿De dónde viene tu apodo?
Where does your pseudonym come from?
Estaba intentando diseñar un nuevo estilo, allá por 2009, y pensé que las letras I-R-K estarían bien para escribir. Sin ningún significado especial.
No fue tan bien y empecé a centrarme más en pintar murales/personajes. Entonces me di cuenta del significado de la palabra inglesa «irk» y me gustó.
I was trying to design a new style, back in 2009 and I thought the letters I-R-K would be good for writing. Without any special meaning.
It was not so good and I started to focus more on painting murals/characters. Then I realized the meaning of the English word “irk” and I like it.
¿Qué te motivó para empezar a pintar?
What motivated you to get started painting?
Gracias a un compañero de clase de arte que me enseñó su boceto de graffiti. Había un tenedor clavado en el cerebro que salía de las letras con un horizonte épico de fondo. Desde ese día me interesa todo lo relacionado con el graffiti.
Thanks to an older schoolmate in after school art class who showed me his graffiti sketch. There was a fork stuck in the brain that popped out from letters with an epic skyline in the background. Since that day I have been interested in everything related to graffiti.
¿Cuál es tu estilo?
What is your style?
Mi estilo es una especie de vector-impresionismo. La ilusión de plasticidad se crea utilizando muchos matices de color sin mezclarlos. Como referencia para la pintura, creo esculturas digitales en 3D de mis personajes imaginarios.
My style is kind of vector-impressionism. Illusion of plasticity is created by using a lot of color shades without blending. As a reference for painting I create 3D digital sculptures of my imaginary characters.

Es una locura la cantidad de artistas nuevos que he encontrado aquí. Me alegro de formar parte de ello.

¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?
Do you remember the first piece?
Los comienzos fueron duros. Primer intento con pintura en spray en 2005, el día después de Navidad. Frío glacial, pared mojada, plata goteando, no cubría el negro… una experiencia terrible. Pensé que nunca volvería a pintar. No conocía a nadie que pudiera enseñarme.
El segundo intento fue mucho mejor, un momento como cuando aprendes a montar en bicicleta y algo hace «clic» en tu cerebro.
The Beginning was hard. First try with spray paint in 2005, the day after Christmas. Freezing cold, wet wall, dripping chrome, not covering black..terrible experience. I thought I would never paint again. Didn’t know anybody who could teach me.
Second try was much better, a moment like when you were learning to ride a bicycle and something “clicked” in your brain.
