¿De dónde viene tu apodo?
Where does your pseudonime come from?
He estado dibujando desde que era una niña, pero comencé a hacer graffitis en las calles en 2006. Cuando nací mi abuela me puso el apodo de Meme. En los últimos años, he cambiado a Memex para diferenciarme de otros escritores.
I have been drawing since i was a child but i started to make graffiti in the streets in 2006. My grandmother gave me the nickname Meme. In recent years, I’ve switched to Memex to differentiate myself from other writers.
¿Qué te motivó para empezar a ser una artista?
What motivated you to get started being an artist?
Fue en mi adolescencia cuando empecé a escribir mi apodo y el de mis compañeros de clase al estilo de «pompas», incluso dibujaba en sus cuadernos cuando ya no tenía ninguna página en el mio.
En el año 2005 aproximadamente, entré en el movimiento de los que pintaban en Buenos Aires, para entonces la cultura del graffiti en Argentina ya había comenzado, los veía cada vez en más lugares, como en fiestas underground relacionadas con la cultura hip hop de la época, organizadas por mis amigos, quienes a su vez pintaban también. Ese fue el primer contacto que tuve con el graffiti.
En el instituto conocí a Pol corona, amigo de Mart Aire, entre otros, y los acompañé para ver cómo hacían sus murales.
Motivada por mis amigos, aunque ya hacía firmas en las calles y muchos bocetos, me animé a hacer mi primer graffiti, con el tiempo conocí a varias crews, que a su vez eran parte del mismo barrio, o cercanos a a mi, y ya iba con miembros, como Past, Bruk, Plast y Soer del B2 Crew, así como a porn14, entre otros, con los que iba a pintar y firmar.
Fue entonces cuando empecé a compartir estas experiencias, desde pintar en la calle hasta entrar en los túneles del metro y buscar trenes, viviendo experiencias de todo tipo, desde divertidas hasta peligrosas, en ese momento todo sucedía de forma muy natural, día a día, y para entonces ya estaba haciendo algunos dibujos pero sin combinarlos. Sólo hacía letras.

Motivated by her friends, although she was already making tags in the streets and many sketches, she was encouraged to make her first Graffiti, over time she met several crews, which in turn were part of the same neighborhood, or close to it, and already frequented its members, such as Past, Bruk, Plast and Soer of the B2 Crew, as well as porn14, among others, who were with whom she went to paint and tagging.
It was then that he began to share these experiences, from painting in the street to going into the subway tunnels and looking for trains, living experiences of all kinds, from fun to dangerous, at that time everything was happening very naturally, day by day, and by then he was already making some drawings but not combining them. She only did letters.

What do you try to say with your artworks?
La idea de hoy en mis piezas, aparte de dejar mi nombre donde viajo y alejarse un poco de las letras, es capturar la fuerza y el movimiento de la fauna y la flora de América Latina.
Dándoles un lugar y concienciando un poco a la gente que vive en las grandes ciudades, sobre la importancia de cuidar y preservar la naturaleza.
Un muro que refleje que ellos también son parte del planeta tierra y que debemos cuidarlo.
Al mismo tiempo, tal vez le ayude a cambiar la forma de pensar sobre un mal día que pueda tener, o simplemente que este muro es parte de su camino con un poco de color.
Y en algunos lugares donde la realidad de la vida es más difícil dar otra cara a estos barrios, y tal vez algunos pueden ver una salida con el graffiti y cambiar la forma de ver las situaciones que enfrentan cada día un poco más positiva, por pequeño que sea ese cambio.

¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?
Do you remember the first piece?
Mi primer graffiti fue en un callejón, compré mis sprays y subí una escalera para hacerlo más alto, recuerdo que hice fondo negro y por no saber usar el spray me comí un poco las letras. Fue divertido y tragué mucha pintura.
Hoy mi estilo ha cambiado, también la forma de ver la calidad de las letras que tanto me gusta, como el manejo del spray, la velocidad y los colores. Definir con qué me siento más cómoda pintando. Entre lo ilegal y lo que no, diferenciando lo que es con calidad y lo que no. Creo que eso es lo que te dan los años de pintura, no hay otra manera.
My first graffiti was in an alley, I bought my sprays and climbed a ladder to make it higher, I remember that I did black background and for not knowing how to use the spray I ate the letters a little. It was fun and I swallowed a lot of paint.
Today my style has changed, also the way of seeing the quality of the letters that I like so much, like the handling of the spray, the speed and the colors. Define what I feel more comfortable painting with. Between illegal and not, differentiating what is with quality and what is not. I think that’s what the years of painting give you, there’s no other way.
¿Qué es lo que más te gusta que te mantiene haciendolo?
What do you like the most about muralism that keeps you doing it?
Lo que más me gusta de pintar, depende de la situación, es la adrenalina cuando es ilegal, y ver lo rápido que practicas para pintar, y lo otro es capturar lo que imaginas en la cabeza a una pared. Que es como pensabas que era lo mejor. Saca lo que tienes dentro de ti y déjalo en una pared.
What I like most about painting murals, is depending on the situation, is the adrenaline when it is illegal, and see how fast you practice to paint, and the other is to capture what you imagine in the head to a wall. That it is as you thought is the best. Take out what you have inside you and leave it on a wall.
