Why is your tag Nerdink?
Inicialmente, el nombre de NERDINK fue creado espontáneamente. Fue básicamente hace 6 años cuando quería recrear un nuevo nombre para mí, y que englobase a todos los personajes que dibujaba que llevaban gafas o parecían un poco «nerds». Y también, con todos los colores con los que jugaba y el ver que mis manos nunca estaban limpias porque me manchaba con los rotuladores y con la pintura plástica. Eso es lo que me hizo que escogiera, NERDINK. Y desde entonces, el nombre se puede observar profundamente dentro de las piezas que hago.
Initially, NERDINK was created spontaneously. It was basically 6 years ago when I wanted to recreate a new name for myself, and with all the characters that I kept drawing were wearing either glasses or they look awesomely nerdly. And also, with all the colors I was playing with and my hands were never clean because paints and markers kept staining them. Thats how it clicks to me, NERDINK it is then. And since then, the name is profoundly seen within the pieces made.

What is your style?
Me gusta crear cualquier cosa con colores. Especialmente los colores prisma. Normalmente, me decanto por el arte pop, pero con un poco de giro. Es principalmente una mezcla de todo, pero con diferentes perspectivas de comprensión en personajes y en las letras que se pueden identificar la mayor parte del tiempo como nerdink.
I like to create anything with colors. Especially the prism colors. Normally, I’ll go for the pop art kind but with a little twist. It’s mostly a mixture of everything but with different persepective of understanding in character and letters that can be identified almost nerdink-like.

La idea es absolutamente brillante. Cualquier cosa para ayudar a expandir el horizonte del graffiti, estoy a favor!

¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?
Do you remember the first piece?
Mi primera pieza fue en 2002. Hecha en una casa abandonada con tan sólo dos botes, negro y rojo, mi primer tag era un gusano enfermo, cada vez que salía del colegio me iba a esa casa y descargaba mis sentimientos a través de tags, bombing y tan sólo jugando con los sprays que eran las únicas herramientas con las que podia expresar mis sentimientos.
My first piece was back in 2002. done in abandoned house with only two cans black and red my first tag was sick maggot, everytime i skipping from school i will go to that house and discharge my feeling through tagging, bombing and just playing around with the cans that’s the only tools i can express my feeling through it.

How do you imagine graffiti in the future (Year 2085)?
Por el momento, apostar por ser innovador y creativo es abrumador. En 2085, se podrá ver el residuo de la creatividad física. Sin embargo, con la exposición adecuada de lo que realmente es el grafitti, será una de las formas mas históricas de expresión.
At the moment, the push to be innovative and creative is overwhelming. By 2085, the residing of physical creativity can be seen. However, with proper exposure of what grafitti truly is, it will be one of the historical ways of expressing.
¿Puedes hablarnos del graffiti en tu ciudad?
Can you talk us about the graffiti in your city?
La escena del graffiti en Brunei ahora está siendo aceptada por el público y mejorando definitivamente, creciendo mas que antes y esperamos ver a escritores De Brunei creciendo al mismo nivel que los escritores internacionales de graffiti.
The graff scene in Brunei is now getting accepted by the public and getting improving definitely going up than before and hope to see bruneian writers rising to the same level as international graffiti writers.

What is your crew?
En 2005 forme una crew llamada BLACKINTRUDE, sólo éramos 3 de nosotros SCHIZO, SICK y SMOKE, luego nos detuvimos en 2008 debido a nuestro compromiso personal y nos unimos a KWS en 2016.
Back in 2005 I have a crew named BLACKINTRUDE there was only 3 of us SCHIZO, SICK and SMOKE then we stopped in 2008 due to our personal commitment and joining with KWS in 2016.
¿Cuál es tu trabajo real?
What is your real job?
En Brunei, la industria creativa todavía está tratando de ampliar su horizonte. Con el graffiti solamente, no es suficiente para cumplir con las prioridades diarias, especialmente cuando hay compromisos familiares. Por lo que, trabajo con el gobierno para cumplir mi papel como ciudadano y también, para ganar un poco más para comprar pinturas en spray (nada es gratis).
In Brunei, the creative industry is still trying to expand it’s horizon. With grafitti alone, is not enough to meet with daily priorities especially when there is family commitments and domestically too. Hence, I work with the government to fulfill my role as a citizen and also, to earn a little bit more to purchase spray paints (nothing is for free!)
