¿De dónde viene tu apodo?
Where does your pseudonym come from?
Es tan solo mi nombre. Mi nombre es un apodo que me dieron en la escuela de arte, cuando mi pelo rubio y mi consumo de whiskey recordaba a un profesor de Nico del underground velvet. y se quedo ahi.
Its just my name. My first name is a nickname given to me in art school, when my blonde hair, and whiskey drinking reminded a professor of Nico from the Velvet Underground. It stuck.
¿Qué te motivó para empezar a pintar?
What motivated you to get started painting?
Creo que siempre he estado pintando. Cuando era joven copiaba las pinturas de la capilla sixtina una y otra vez en mis cuadernos de dibujos, esto me enseño a dibujar personas, creo que antes de saber que podría pintar a gran escala ya estaba pensando en los murales.
I think I have always been painting. When I was younger I used to copy the paintings from the Sistine Chapel over and over in my sketchbooks. It taught me how to draw people. I think, before I even knew that I could paint large as a career, I was thinking about walls.

What is your style?
Me esfuerzo en trabajar en el realismo, espero llegar a conseguirlo en el tiempo. Una gran parte de lo que hago es investigar, parte de mi estilo es crear obras con info que jueguen con la historia y la comunidad donde estoy trabajando.
I strive to work in realism. I hope I succeed from time to time. A big part of what I do is research. Some of my style is creating informed works that play off of the history and community around where I am painting.

¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?
Do you remember the first piece?
Mi primera pieza en el muro fue una verdadera mierda, si la pienso en retrospectiva. Eran un par de medusas. Tenía demasiado miedo para mezclarlo y lo pinté rápidamente en un concurso. Definitivamente me picó el gusanillo de pintar en grande allí, pero me alegro mucho de que ya no exista. Mi primera pieza realista fue unos años más tarde, y era bastante grande (creo que 30 x 80 pies). Estaba basada en una fotografía de nuestra amiga Moxie, pintada en azules y morados con estrellas detrás de ella, en el costado de un spa flotante. Me emocioné al comenzar, así que comencé en febrero y terminé pintando durante dos tormentas del noreste aquí en Virginia. No creo que alguna vez olvide lo aterradora y difícil que fue esa pieza. Tarde un mes por el clima y lo terminé justo antes de mi cumpleaños.
My first true wall piece was silly, looking back on it. A pair of jellyfish. I was too scared to blend, and painted it quickly, in a competition. I definitely caught the bug to paint large there, but I am very glad it no longer exists. My first realistic piece was a few years later, and it was pretty large (I think 30×80 ft.) It was based on a photo of our friend Moxie, painted in blues and purples with stars behind her, on the side of a float spa. I got excited to start so I began in Feb and ended up painting through two nor’easters here in Virginia. I don’t think I will ever forget how scary and difficult that piece was. It took a month because of the weather and I finished it just before my birthday.
