¿De dónde viene tu apodo?
Where does your pseudonym come from?
El nombre deriva de un género de dinosaurios carnívoros, los Deinonychus, que también inspiraron a los rapaces de Parque Jurásico. Deinonychus se traduce como «garra terrible», lo que me pareció bastante apropiado teniendo en cuenta mi estilo.
The name derives from a genus of carnivorous dinosaurs, the Deinonychus, which also inspired the raptors in Jurassic Park. Deinonychus translates to “terrible claw“, which I felt was pretty appropriate considering my style.

¿Qué te motivó para empezar a pintar?
What motivated you to get started painting?
Entre los 17 y los 19 años, ya exploraba el spray y el graffiti. Tal vez fuera la acción, tal vez fuera el movimiento, tal vez fuera el tamaño lo que me atraía. Lo que noté fue que me sentía mucho más libre en la calle, tanto física como mentalmente. Tras un periodo casi enfermizo de escritura de graffiti, me di cuenta de que en realidad buscaba la expresión artística, más que marcar mi territorio. No se trataba de mi ego ni de escribir mi nombre. Lo que de verdad me importaba era dejar una pieza chula e impactante, para mí y para los demás.
Between the ages of 17 and 19, I was already exploring the spray can and graffiti. Maybe it was the action, maybe it was the movement, maybe it was the size that attracted me. What I noticed was that I felt much freer on the street, both physically and mentally. After a almost unhealthy, period of Graffiti writing I realized that I was actually looking for artistic expression, rather than for marking my territory. It was not about my ego and writing my name. What really mattered to me was leaving a cool and striking piece behind, for myself and for others.

What is your style?
La anatomía es un tema que me mantiene ocupado desde entonces. Me gusta hacer visible lo que no se ve. Ya sea a través de mis numerosas disecciones o pinturas translúcidas, la anatomía de mi estilo o la gran variedad de temas entre el miedo, el dolor, la curación y el despertar. Para que surja el estilo, lo único que tienes que hacer es escuchar tu impulso interior y, en consecuencia, sentarte a trabajar.
Anatomy is a topic that has been keeping me busy ever since. I like to make visible what cannot be seen. Whether it’s through my many dissections or translucent paintings, the anatomy of my style or the wide variety of themes between fear, pain, healing and awakening. For style to emerge, all you got to do is to listen to your inner drive – and in further consequence, you got to sit down and work.

¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?
Do you remember the first piece?
Mis primeros trabajos estaban muy inspirados en los cómics de Spawn: Colores llamativos combinados con colores bastante sucios combinados con un contorno negro. El negro era sin duda un color que utilizaba en exceso en mis primeros trabajos. Por aquel entonces, me creía el más guay y salvaje. Pensándolo ahora, definitivamente no tenía ni idea de lo que estaba haciendo. Pero eso forma parte del juego. Tienes que pintar muchas cosas malas para llegar a conocer el instrumento. Y también para llegar a la esencia de las letras. Eso es algo que no entendía entonces. Pero forma parte del proceso. Maduramos con nuestro arte, y nuestro arte madura con nosotros.
My first works were heavily inspired by the Spawn comics: Flashy colors combined with pretty dirty colors combined with a black outline. Black was definitely a color I’d overuse in my early works. Back then, I thought I was the coolest and wildest. Thinking back now, I definitely had no clue what I was doing. But that’s part of the game. You have to paint a lot of bad stuff to get to know the instrument. And also, to get to the essence of letters. That’s something I didn’t understand back then. But that’s part of the process. We mature with our art, and our art matures with us.
