Why is «Skipy» your tag ?

Skipy, es uno de esos apodos que salen del barrio, de la gente con la que te rodeas, y en mi caso me lo pusieron mis amigos, con los que practicaba street-ball en el colegio, Skipy es un personaje inquieto e imparable, me identifica, nunca me detengo y difícilmente se me acaba la energía.

Skipy, is one of those nicknames that come from the neighborhood, the people you surround yourself with, and in my case I put it my friends, with whom he practiced street-ball at school, Skipy is a restless character, unstoppable, identifies me, stop me and hardly ever I run out of energy.

¿Qué fue lo que te motivo para coger un spray y ponerte a pintar en la calle?

En el barrio donde crecí, Cotocollao al norte de la Ciudad de Quito a mis 15 años, en el 2005 el graffiti aparecía por todo rincón en el famoso Sector 52, la competencia y el territorialismo invadía el norte de la ciudad, fue ahí cuando me anime a salir a la calle, a demostrar que mi calle era “mia”, ahí fue cuando comenzó todo, cuando me enamore de la adrenalina, a correr de la policía, pintar bajo la lluvia y el olor a aerosol… ya luego se fueron dando las producciones.

Creo que no tengo un estilo definido, pero definitivamente el Wildstyle es lo que más me anima, y si es posible hacerlo en una versión 3D, mucho mejor.

I don’t think I have a definite style, but definitely the Wildstyle is what encourages me most, and if possible in a 3D version, much better.

 

Graffiti…..¿Calidad o Cantidad?
Graffiti …. Quantity or Quality?

La calidad en todo producto es lo que da el valor agregado, y el graffiti no es la excepción, creo que de nada sirve cantidad sin calidad ni velocidad.

The quality of any product is what gives value added, and graffiti is no exception, I think it’s useless quantity without quality or speed.

 

¿Piensas que la sociedad acepta el graffiti?
Do you think that society accepts graffiti?

En mi ciudad, el tema urbano y la expresión mediante el graffiti ha sido un tema en el que hemos venido trabajando, hoy por hoy, la gente ya no nos ve mal, ni tampoco nos falta el respeto por pintar, pero como en todo lugar aun hay gente que no acepta e incluso odia el graffiti, a los que les digo, nunca nos detendremos!

In my city, the urban theme and expression through graffiti has been an issue on which we have been working today, people don’t see us wrong, neither they do lack respect for paint us, but like everywhere there are still people who don’t accept and even hate graffiti, which I say, we never stop!

Me parece genial, la oportunidad que se da para que a parte de conocer el trabajo de la gente de alrededor del mundo, se pueda conocer un poco la persona que hay detrás del nombre, intercambiar ideas y unirnos mundialmente por amor al graffiti.

I feel great , the opportunity given to that part of showcasing the work of people from around the world , you can get to know the person behind the name , exchange ideas and join for love of the graffiti world .

 

¿Cuáles son tus escritores favoritos?
What are your favorite writers?

Me gusta mucho el constante movimiento de los gemelos «How & Nosm», «Os Gemeos», el estilo único de «Totem», las letras de «Reso», «Katre», «Brusk», los caracteres de «Turkesa», «Belin», «Nash», «Herakut» el bombardeo de «PureHate», el Wildstyle de «Bakon», «Perve» «Rusk»; en especial admiro mucho a los escritores latinoamericanos que con las tantas desventajas del tercer mundo, con pintura de mala calidad hacen trabajos de muy alto nivel, son mis favoritos los crews: FC, CMS de Venezuela, MDC, KavC, de Colombia, Da2c y Dmjc de Perú, Las Turronas, Violentos Colores de Chile, Ils y Bas de Argentina, Bihno y Doez de Brasil. … y muchos mas, que hacen del graffiti Sudamericano ejemplo del verdadero Latinspirit.

¿Nos podrías dar algún consejo para ser igual de bueno que tu en este arte?

¿Bueno yo?… aun me falta mucho por recorrer, hay gente que sabe muy bien lo que hace.

Un consejo seria el de perseverar, dominar lo que se hace antes de buscar un nuevo reto, esforzase y nunca desanimarse, aunque tus trabajos no te satisfagan no te desanimes, controlar las letras, esforzarse en los efectos, tomarse el tiempo para analizar en que se puede mejorar y en especial saber cuando terminar. Pintar lo que te gusta, sin importar lo que los demás te digan o lo que este de moda, pintar siempre lo que a ti te gusta es mi secreto.
