¿De dónde viene tu apodo?

Where does your pseudonym come from?

En realidad es sólo mi apellido. Cuando hacía bombing no firmaba con mi nombre o a veces ponía «Oxrat», pero la mayoría de las veces lo hacía de forma anónima.

It’s actually just my last name! When I did bombing I would either not sign a name or sometimes I would tag «Oxrat» but mostly I did images anonymously

¿Qué te motivó para empezar a pintar?

What motivated you to get started painting?

Gran parte de ello se debe a que dejé la heroína hace 12 años. Siempre había pintado, pero cuando dejé las drogas necesitaba algo en lo que concentrarme y el arte se convirtió en un gran vector. Entonces empecé a pintar obras grandes y luego más grandes y seguí adelante. También me inspiraron mucho ciudades como Miami en 2014 y Bogotá, Colombia.

A lot of it came from qutting heroin 12 years ago. I had always painted but once i got off drugs I really needed something to focus on and art became a big vector for that. Then I started painting large pieces and then larger and kept going. I was also really inspired by cities like Miami back in 2014 and Bogota, Colombia.

Estoy encantado de que me incluyas. Me encanta conocer a gente de todas partes y hablar con ellos sobre el arte que les gusta y lo que les inspira. Es impresionante ver la colección y organización de artistas en el sitio. Es una forma estupenda de conocer a otros escritores y pintores cuando se viaja.

I’m stoked to be included. I love meeting people from all over and talking to them about the art that they like and what inspires them. It’s awesome seeing the collection and organization of artists on the site. Great way to meet othert writers and painters when traveling.

¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?

Do you remember the first piece?

Recuerdo mi primer mural público. Estoy bastante seguro de que fue un mono que hice en un lugar llamado Kingspoint aquí en Houston. He rehecho ese mono un par de veces y yo diría que mi estilo se siguió una evolución natural allí, pero siempre ha sido similar. Esto fue en la primavera de 2014. Diré que los sentimientos eran un poco diferentes entonces. Yo era un artista mucho peor, pero también mucho más lleno de mí mismo jaja. Creo que se llama el efecto dunning krueger. Cuanto más aprendes, menos te das cuenta de que sabes. Creo que es un proceso importante para la humildad y el crecimiento.

I remember my first public mural. I’m pretty sure it was a monkey I did at a place called Kingspoint here in Houston. I’ve redone that monkey a couple of times and I would say that my style was followed a natural evolution there but its always been similar. This was in the spring of 2014. I will say that the feelings were a little different back then. I was a much worse artist but also way more full of myself haha. I think its called the dunning krueger effect. The more you learn, the less you realize that you know. I think its an important process to humility and growth.
