¿Cuándo empezaste a pintar?
When have you started to paint and why?
Empecé a dibujar con lápiz fino y rotuladores en 2016. Quería crear una obra totalmente diferente a mi trabajo preciso por ordenador. Así que elegí los medios tradicionales.
I started sketching with fineliner and markers in 2016. I wanted to create work that is totally different from my precise computer work. So I chose traditional media.
¿Qué te motivó para empezar a pintar?
What motivated you to get started painting?
En mi trabajo habitual de visualización en 3D, tengo que ser muy preciso y la mayoría de las veces fotorrealista. La mayor parte del trabajo se hace de forma indirecta a través del software. Haces un modelo 3D, lo texturizas, lo iluminas, colocas una cámara y lo renderizas. Es un proceso indirecto. Me gustaba volver a trabajar como cuando empecé a dibujar en mi adolescencia. Sencillo, con lápiz y papel. Sin herramientas digitales, sin deshacer, sin red de seguridad.
In my regular work in 3D visualization, I have to be very precise and most of the times photorealistic. Most of the work is done indirectly via software. You make a 3D model, you texture it, light it, place a camera and render it. It’s an indirect process. I liked to work again like I did when I first started drawing in my teenage years. Simple, with pen and paper. No digital tools, no undo, no safety net.

What is your style?
Consideraría que mi estilo es una forma muy libre de hacer bocetos que luego coloreo de forma muy suelta con rotuladores de colores. El proceso es increíblemente rápido, así que nunca tengo que esperar a que se seque. Esto hace que sea ideal para hacerlo todos los días y entre mi trabajo habitual o a última hora de la tarde.
I would consider my style a very freeform way of sketching that I then color in a very looose way with color markers. The process is incredibly fast so I never have to wait for things to dry. This makes it ideal to do every day and between my regular work or late in the evenings.

Me siento muy honrado de que mi obra se publique en tu web. Hay muchos artistas estupendos, y a mí me encanta el arte del graffiti desde mi adolescencia. Yo no hago graffitis, pero vivo muy cerca de una estación de tren por la que pasan muchos trenes de mercancías. Todos los días hay una cadena de vagones con el arte más hermoso en ellos. Yo lo llamo mi visita diaria al museo. Es un placer verlo.
Así que sí, me siento privilegiado por aparecer entre artistas que realmente admiro.
I feel very honoured that my work will be published to your website. There are so many great artists there, and I have loved graffiti art every since my teens. I don’t make graffiti myself but I live very close to a train station where lots of freight trains pass. Every day there is a chain of wagins with the most beautiful art on it. I call it my daily museum visit. It’s such a joy to see!
So yes I feel privileged to be featured among artists whose type of work I really admire!

Do you remember the first piece?
Mi primer boceto, ¡sí! Lo recuerdo claramente. Fue en mi cuaderno de bocetos número uno (no tenía idea de que alguna vez habría un número dos, ¡pero ahora estoy en el número 37!). Fue el 30 de junio de 2016. E hice un boceto de la caja de mi libro en mi estudio.
My first sketch, yes! I remember very clearly. It was in my sketchbook number one (I had no idea that there would ever be a number two, but now I am at number 37!). It was june 30 2016. And I made a sketch of my book case in my studio.
¿Por que pintas casas y arquitectura?
Why do you paint houses and architecture?
Hago paseos regulares por mi ciudad y, como necesitaba un tema para dibujar cada día, elegí las casas. Me encanta la arquitectura y mis paseos me acercan a muchas casas bonitas de diferentes épocas de la historia.
I make regular walks through my city and since I needed a them to sketch every day, I picked houses. I love architecture and my walks bring me close to many beautiful houses from different periods in history.

Could you tell us more about your new course of painting?
El año pasado, por estas fechas, Domestika se puso en contacto conmigo y me preguntó si quería hacer un curso con ellos. Me hizo mucha ilusión porque conozco la gran calidad de sus cursos. No sólo los producen a la perfección, sino que también cuidan muy bien de los artistas que los hacen. Al principio estaba muy nervioso, pero en colaboración con mi productor desarrollamos un buen programa de curso que me hizo sentir cómodo al presentarlo. Luego me invitaron a su estudio en Madrid, donde todo, incluido un estudio completo preparado con mis obras de arte, estaba listo para filmar mi curso. Estoy muy orgulloso de este proyecto y estoy totalmente impresionado por la respuesta de mis estudiantes, literalmente de todo el mundo. En el momento en que escribo esto tengo más de 12.000 alumnos en menos de dos meses. ¡Es increíble!
Last year around this time, I was approached by Domestika and they asked if I would like to make a course with them. I was very excited because I know the high quality of their courses. Not only do they produce them to perfection but they also take really good care of the artists that make them. I was very nervous at first but in cooperation with my producer we developed a nice course program that I felt comfortable presenting. Then I was invited to their studio in Madrid where everything including a full studio prepared with my artworks stood ready to film my course. I am very proud of this project and I am totally blown away by the response from my students from literally all over the world!! At the moment that I write this I have more than 12000 students in less than two months. That is just incredible!
