Mi aka son simplemente mis iniciales de mi nombre y apellidos, que es Jamie Paul Scanlon, elegí no ocultar mi identidad, la policía solo puede enjuiciar si hay una queja, intento ser selectivo donde pinto y hasta ahora tuve suerte, a veces me arrepiento de no haber ocultado mi identidad, en el lado positivo, mi historia es la de un ex adicto que cambió su vida y que ha inspirado a muchos otros a enfrentarse a los demonios de la calle, pero por el lado negativo también me dejó expuesto a algunos acosadores muy enfermos.
My street art name is simply my initials of my full name, which is Jamie Paul Scanlon, i chose not to hide my identity, police can only prosecute if theres a complaint i try to be selective of where i hit and so far been lucky. i sometimes regret not hiding my identity, on the plus side my back story of an ex addict who turnt his life around has inspired many others to face there demons or take up street art, but on the downside it also left me exposed to a few very sick stalkers.

what motivated you to get started being an artist?
En 2009, mi vida estaba en el fondo, era muy adicto a las bebidas y las drogas y no una buena persona, mi amigo George me llevó a ver la exposición del museo de Banksy y fue una llamada de atención sobre cómo había tirado mi propio talento a la basura. planté la semilla para comenzar a enfrentar mis propios demonios y vi que el arte callejero podía ser lo que necesitaba para reemplazar la adicción que buscaba en otros lugares.
In 2009 my life was at rock bottom i was heavily addicted to drink and drugs and not a good person, my friend George took me to see Banksys museum exhibition and it was a real wake up call on how i’d thrown my own talent away, it planted the seed to begin facing my own demons and i seen that street art could be what i needed to replace the buzz i sought elsewhere.

Podría ser fácilmente político e intentar transmitir un mensaje real, pero eso no me interesa. Principalmente me gusta hacer sonreír a la gente o, a veces, asustarlos con mi trabajo, a veces tienen un significado más profundo, pero en general me gusta ser único y no seguir a la multitud por así decirlo.
I could easily be political and try and get a real message across, but that doesn’t interest me. I mainly like to make people smile or sometimes scare them with my work, sometimes they have deeper meanings but in general i like to be unique and not follow the crowd so to speak.
¿Nos podrías contar como es un día normal durante tu semana?
Would you mind telling us how is your normal day during the week?
Me gusta ser espontáneo si no estoy ocupado creando plantillas o respondiendo correos de gente que le gusta lo que hago, me gusta explorar lugares abandonados (posibles lugares para pintarse algo) e ir a parques temáticos con mi novia Steffi.
I like to be spontaneous if im not busy creating stencils or answering fan mail, i like exploring abandoned places (potential painting spots) and going to theme parks with my fiance Steffi.

I think its great that sites like you support street artists and help spread there work further than just the streets.
¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?
Do you remember your first piece?
Mi primera pieza fue un tributo a mi amigo que fue asesinado en mi ciudad natal de Weston Super Mare a primeras horas del día de Año Nuevo en el 2009, su nombre era Darren Plumley, hice la plantilla usando solo la cuchilla de un cuchillo stanley y la hice en un rincón tranquilo de un pub usando la mesa como una estera de corte, yo estaba haciendo malabares para sobrevivir en ese momento, técnicamente estaba sin hogar. Pinté muchas plantillas de estas en la ciudad, el día de su funeral en junio de ese año y se publicó hasta en el periódico.
My first piece was a tribute to my friend who was murdered in my hometown of weston super mare early hours of New years day 2009, his name was Darren Plumley, i made the stencil using just the blade from a stanley knife and it was cut in a quiet corner of a pub using the table as a cutting mat, i was sofa surfing at that time so technically homeless. I painted loads of them around the town on the day of his funeral in june that year and it got in the paper.

En muchos lugares me encantaría pintar, pero especialmente en Detroit.
Lots of places i’d love to paint but especially Detroit.

What would you do, if you weren’t an artist?
Si no hubiera llegado a ser quien soy hoy, probablemente estaría muerto de la manera en que estaba viviendo mi vida antes.
If i’d not became who i am today, i’d most likely be dead the way i was living my life before.
