¿De dónde viene tu apodo?
Where does your pseudonym come from?
Mi nombre real es Romeo y la gente solía llamarme Romeowth cuando pokemon era realmente famoso. Solía firmar mi nombre real cuando empecé, pero luego decidí usar Miau, para disociarlo de mi información personal pero de alguna manera seguir manteniéndolo cerca de lo que solía escribir. Con el tiempo añadí una «s» en la y, para que mis piezas fueran más largas y fuera más fácil equilibrar las letras.
My real name is Romeo and people used to call me Romeowth back when pokemon was really famous. I used to tag my real name when I started, but then decided to use Meow, to disassociate it with my personal information but somehow still keep it close to what I used to write. Eventually I added an «s» at the and, to make my pieces longer and easier to balance the letters.
¿Qué te motivó para empezar a pintar?
What motivated you to get started painting?
Me gustaba el hiphop y leía en revistas sobre sus elementos. Quería contribuir a la cultura, así que probé con el graffiti, ya que teníamos pinturas en spray en casa. En realidad, quería probar todos los elementos, pero el breakdance no era para mí y conseguir un tocadiscos era demasiado caro en aquella época, así que me centré en la parte visual y también un poco en el rap.
I was into hiphop, and read in magazines about its elements. Wanting to contribute to the culture, I tried graffiti since we had spraypaints at home. I actually wanted to try every element but Breakdancing wasn’t for me and getting a turntable was too expensive at the time, so I focused on the visual side little bit of rap as well.

What is your style?
He tenido un estilo orgánico, biomecánico o sangriento durante la mayor parte de mis años haciendo graffiti, pero hoy en día intento hacer más las letras tradicionales, de estilo libre. A veces, intento adaptarme, dependiendo de con quién esté pintando, las latas disponibles o el estado de ánimo.
I’ve had an organic, biomechanical or gory style for most of my years in doing graffiti, but nowadays I try to do more of just the traditional, freestyle lettering. Sometimes, I try to adjust, depending on who I’m painting with cans available, or mood.

¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?
Do you remember the first piece?
Creo que fue en 2004, escribí romeo como mi primera pieza de vuelta en el instituto, en la pared de mi vecino, sin su permiso. Estaba probando a pintar con spray y aún no conocía las reglas del graffiti, sobre bombardeos y demás. Mi hermano, mi primo y yo pensamos que era genial, así que decidimos escribir sus nombres en la pared. Mi padre nos pilló y se enfadó mucho, pero más por el hecho de que tuviéramos el mismo nombre y se utilizara en actos vandálicos.
La siguiente vez decidí pintar lejos de nuestro barrio y sólo escribí Miau. Tuve que volver al lugar un par de veces, porque al principio no me di cuenta de que tenía que pulir la pared porque la pintura en spray se impregna en el hormigón. La gente de la zona se preguntaba qué estaba haciendo, y yo les decía que sólo estaba tapando las firmas.
I think it was in 2004, I wrote romeo as my first piece back in highschool, at my neighbor’s wall, without his permission. I was just trying out spraypainting and did not know the rules of graffiti yet, about bombing and such. Me, my brother and cousin thought it was cool, so we then decided to have me also write their names on the wall. My father caught us and was really mad, but more with the fact that we had the same name and it was being used in vandalism.
The next time I decided to paint far from our neighborhood and just wrote Meow. I had to go back to the spot a couple of times, because I did not realize at first that I had to buff the wall because spraypaint just soaks into the concrete. The people in the area were questioning what I was doing, and I told them that I was just covering up the tags.
